Pizza Giant With 3,487 Restaurants Set to Close Hundreds of Stores

Papa Johns is accelerating a major restructuring of its North American business after identifying hundreds of restaurants that are no longer financially sustainable. The pizza chain plans to close around 300 underperforming locations by the end of 2027, with most of the shutdowns expected during 2026.

The figure of 3,487 refers to the company’s North American restaurant count at the end of the first quarter of 2026, not its total global estate. The closures are concentrated in the United States and Canada and form part of a wider attempt to strengthen franchisees, improve sales per restaurant and redirect investment toward healthier markets.
