Mysterious Aircraft Spotted Over Area 51 Fuels Secret Tech Speculation

A strange aircraft shape spotted near Area 51 has revived speculation about what may be flying over one of America’s most secretive test ranges. The sighting involved a sharply triangular, “Dorito-shaped” aircraft captured in thermal imagery near Groom Lake Road in Nevada, close to the restricted airspace surrounding the classified base.

The image was reportedly captured early on January 14, 2026, by Anders Otteson of Uncanny Expeditions while he was monitoring nighttime flight activity in the area. Aviation analysts have been careful not to claim what the aircraft is, but its shape, timing and location have made the sighting difficult to ignore.
