The UK is heading into a much warmer spell after a cooler, wetter start to June, with forecasters expecting temperatures to climb sharply by the weekend. ITV Weather reported on June 9, 2026, that parts of the UK could reach around 29–30C, with the strongest heat focused on southern and south-eastern areas.
This is not simply a repeat of May’s record-breaking heat. The change comes after Atlantic low-pressure systems dominated early June, before high pressure starts building from the south and brings warmer continental air, more sunshine, and a noticeably muggier feel.
