Taking Sertraline, Citalopram, Escitalopram or Fluoxetine? Urgent Warning for Brits

Britons taking common antidepressants have been urged to take extra precautions during hot weather. The warning was issued by Dr Rupa Parmar, a GP and Medical Director at Midland Health, as temperatures climbed across parts of the UK in June 2026.

This is not a medicine recall or advice to abandon treatment. It concerns how selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, can contribute to sweating and potentially make dehydration or heat-related illness more difficult to manage.
