The UK has approved its first GLP-1 tablet for weight loss and weight management, putting a new form of Wegovy into the spotlight. Unlike the familiar weekly injection, this version is a once-daily semaglutide tablet made by Novo Nordisk and approved by the MHRA on June 11, 2026.
The important detail is that approval does not automatically mean immediate NHS access. The MHRA says the tablet is not currently available via the NHS, and NHS use will depend on established processes, including evaluation by NICE.
