British travellers are being urged to check Foreign Office advice before booking or flying, after the FCDO listed dozens of countries and territories with “do not travel” or “all but essential travel” warnings. The latest list, updated by The Independent on June 4, 2026, includes full-country warnings, partial no-go zones, and areas where only essential trips are advised.
The warning matters because travelling against FCDO advice can affect insurance and emergency support. The FCDO says it may advise against “all travel” or “all but essential travel” to a whole country or parts of one when risks are unacceptably high, including armed conflict, coups, civil unrest, disease outbreaks or natural disasters.
