Boy Finds Strange Beach Object — It’s a Rare 1.8-Million-Year-Old Discovery

An ordinary family walk on England’s Suffolk coast produced an object that looked more like an unusually shaped rock than part of a prehistoric animal. Eleven-year-old Charlie Orchard-Lisle noticed it beside the water at East Lane beach in Bawdsey on 24 May 2026.

Expert examination later revealed that the object had survived from a world radically different from modern Britain. Its age, preservation and unexpected arrival on the shoreline transformed a simple beach find into a remarkable glimpse of the distant past.
