Researchers Discover New Link Between Eggs and Alzheimer’s Disease

Eggs have moved in and out of health debates for decades, usually because of cholesterol, heart health, and breakfast habits. But new research is shifting attention toward the brain, where nutrients found in eggs may be connected to how Alzheimer’s disease develops with age.

The important word is “linked.” The studies do not prove that eggs prevent Alzheimer’s, and they do not turn eggs into a treatment. What they do suggest is more specific: in older adults, eating eggs regularly was associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease, with researchers pointing especially to choline as one possible explanation.
