No Matter Your Age, Never Ignore These Colorectal Cancer Symptoms

Colorectal cancer remains more common in older adults, but rising rates among younger people make age a dangerous reason to dismiss persistent bowel symptoms. In June 2026, the American College of Surgeons highlighted warning signs that are often mistaken for haemorrhoids, constipation or other common conditions.

Most of these symptoms have non-cancerous explanations, and none can diagnose cancer alone. The important signal is a change that is new, recurrent, unexplained or persistent enough to require medical evaluation rather than repeated self-treatment.
